NGCC GTPP tests successfully completed

Being a part of VIS Group of Companies “VIS Automation” Ltd. acts as a principal facility commissioning organization at the gas turbine power plant construction site of Novy Urengoy Gas & Chemical Complex. Specialists of the Company successfully carried out the following tests of GTPP:

  • Power generation, delivery and consumption tests;
  • GTPP generation equipment complex tests within 72 hours at rate power;
  • Check tests regarding readiness to the general primary frequency control in UES of Russia;
  • Tests on measuring of the allowed imbalance of actual power of GTPP NGCC at underfrequency islanding system;
  • Confidence test of lower range limit and dropping/dial speed (Flexibility).

The above mentioned tests are final stages of all generation equipment tests for GTPP commissioning. A few test network connects have been performed before for the period of several hours and days.

The gas & turbine power plant under construction is one of the most important NGCC infrastructure facilities that will provide an autonomous work and energy independence of industrial processes in the Extreme North conditions. Designed capacity of GTPP equals to 120 MW. It is enough to provide energy not only to all facilities of the Complex but also to cover the current needs of outside consumers. The project is unique in many details as it is performed at the territory with deep-frozen soils, in the climate with extremely low temperatures and shortage of water.

 

Operational optimization of Power Unit No. 9 of Novocherkasskaya GRES

   Specialists of the Company started operational optimization of Power Unit No. 9 of Novocherkasskaya GRES, including:

  • Optimization of operating modes of the power unit within the operational load range in order to reach the designed technical & economic and ecological indices;
  • Optimization of start-up modes in various thermal conditions and modes of the equipment shutdown, including its further cooling and temporary closing;
  • Preparation and performance of tests that determine operational load ranges;
  • Check & optimization of generation equipment switch-off modes;
  • Adjustment of mode regulators and automated logic control programmes;
  • Power unit participation in general primary frequency control.

Novocherkasskaya GRES Power Unit No. 9 under construction is the only power unit of Russian origin with a CFB technology boiler in our country. The technology allows to burn low quality solid fuel efficiently and reduce polluting emissions into the atmosphere. The staff of the power station takes part in all the operations at this stage of works.

   Being a part of VIS Group of Companies “VIS Automation” Ltd. acts as a principal facility commissioning organization at Power Unit No. 9 construction site of Novocherkasskaya GRES. Specialists of the Company successfully carried out the following tests of Power Unit No. 9:

  • generation equipment complex tests within 72 hours at rate power
  • Confidence test of lower range limit and dropping/dial speed.

The above mentioned tests are final stages of all generation equipment tests for power unit commissioning. A few test network connects have been performed before for the period of several hours and days. A unique circulated fluidized bed (CFB) technology has been tested, no deviations found.

Novocherkasskaya GRES Power Unit No. 9 under construction is the only power unit of Russian origin with a CFB technology boiler in our country. The technology allows to burn low quality solid fuel efficiently and reduce polluting emissions into the atmosphere. The staff of the power station takes part in all the operations at this stage of works. Commissioning of Power Unit No. 9 is planned for the third quarter of the current year.

 

Start of hydrotests and flushing of the dry ash compressor unit water recycling system of Novocherkassk SDPP

“VIS Automation”, LLC, being part of “VIS” Construction Group, is the leading organization responsible for facility commissioning on the Construction site of Novocherkassk SDPP Power generating unit No. 9. These days the company experts have started the hydrotests and flushing of the dry ash compressor unit water recycling system.

The dry ash compressor unit is used for process air and instrumentation air supply of Novocherkassk SDPP Power generating unit No. 9 consumers. The compressor unit includes the following production units:

  • Two centrifugal-type compressors with the production rate of 100 Nm3/min each;
  • Two compressed air driers of adsorption type;
  • Three screw-type compressors with the production rate of 20 Nm3/min each;
  • Three air collectors with the volume of 10 m3 each.

The hydrotests are performed at the pressure of 0.56 MPa in order to check the quality of pipe installations and the fittings detachable connection welds.

The pipelines are considered to have passed the hydrotests if upon withstanding the test pressure for 10 minutes there is no visual pressure drop in the pipelines, no water leakage, cracks or metal discontinuities are detected during inspection, and no visual residual deformation or weld sweat is detected after the tests.

The pipelines flushing is performed for the purpose of cleaning the pipes from scale, weld flash and dirt.

The dry ash compressor unit start-up will allow the air supply for the Power generating unit No. 9 pneumatic shut-off and control valves regulation, as well as the first CFB boiler gas-burners ignition.

The construction of the Novocherkassk SDPP Power generating unit No. 9 with rated power of 330 MWatts is to be finished in the 4th quarter of 2015.
